Friends and staff from Conkright Aesthetics took a walk down memory lane Thursday, June 21, 2012. Wearing their high school colors and dressed as they did in high school, five decades were represented at the Girlfriend Gala to benefit WarrickCounty CASA(Court Appointed Special Advocates For Children). Every year more than half a million children are abused and neglected. The CASA program was created in 1977 to make sure the abuse and neglect these children originally suffered at home doesn’t continue as abuse and neglect at the hands of the system in court.
Conkright Aesthetics joined a standing room only crowd for entertainers from the […]

Last March the FDA approved the new “high-strength silicone gel implants” AKA “Gummy Bears” made by the company Sientra. We posted a blog about it, the cosmetic surgery world was all a buzz about, but since then, where are they? Like kids in a candy store, women are seeking out these implants because they are supposed to look and feel more like natural breasts, and are safer then other implants because they have a lower rupture rate. Well, if this is true, let us try them out. Since the news of the approval, we have not heard hide or hair from Sientra […]
A Wrinkle in Time
Webster defines the word wrinkle as a small ridge or furrow on a smooth surface, a change from the regular or something new or different. Having worked with the wrinkles on the face or body for the last 30 years I have had the opportunity to see lots of changes (wrinkles) that “appear over night”. These wrinkles are an inevitable part of the natural aging process. As we become older our skin gets thinner, drier and less elastic. Our skin’s ability to protect itself from damage is also reduced as we age.Eventually wrinkles, creases and lines form on our […]
Did you know that May is skin cancer awareness month? Well, it is, and I have found some helpful tips that might protect you from this indescriminate disease. I will begin with this, skin cancer is a lifestyle disease, affecting young women, older men and everyone in between. But, because it is chiefly a lifestyle disease, it is highly preventable. Unfortunatly, one in five Americans will develop skin cancer in the course of a lifetime; 13 million Americans are living with a history of nonmelanoma skin cancer, and nearly 800,000 Americans are living with a history of melanoma, the most […]
Scheduling your cosmetic surgery can be so exciting! The date, time, and place are all planned, but did you ever think about what foods you should be eating to prepare your body for the healing process. Food choices both before and after your procedure are essential to a speedy recovery.
Before Surgery: It is best to eat high quality proteins such as fish, poultry, eggs, nuts and seeds a few week before surgery. This will build up your strength and tissue fibers. Consuming high-fiber foods such as whole grains, vegetables, fruits and legumes; calcium-rich foods such as nuts, fruits, and leafy greens […]
Have your “fine” lines begun to etch a deeper groove into your skin… not to mention psyche…and starting morphing into (cue sinister music) full blown wrinkles? Lets be Zen about it. Take pride in each furrow as if it represents a hardship overcome. UGH, who are we kidding?? Let’s plump those babies up!
The world of dermal filler these days is wonderful for the patient. Faces can be refreshed with a non surgical treatment like Juvederm XC. It is impossible to make a 50 year old look 20 again, but you can look the best you can for 50.
According to the […]
It began in the 19th century when a surgeon named Robert Gersuny experimented with paraffin injections, only to stop shortly after when it leaked into other parts of the body. A few years later, the first successful breast implant emplacement occurred when a surgeon harvested a benign lumbar tumor to correct breast asymmetry. Moving on into the first half of the twentieth century, physicians began inserting, wait for it….. glass balls and even wood for breast implants. Yes, you did read that, WOOD! Some even tried ivory, polyurethane, sponges, and ox cartilage. You can guess the results of those attempts. Next, doctors began […]
They’re not even on the market yet in the United States, but the gummy bear breast implants are already being touted by some as the next “wave” in breast augmentation.
In clinical trials in the U.S. for the last decade. The highly cohesive gel, formstable (a.ka. “gummy bear’), breast implants are available just about everywhere else. They combine the safety of saline breast implants with the natural feel of silicone breast implants. Silicone is a naturally occurring element found in sand, quartz, and rock that can be manufactured in the form of oils, gels, and solids.
Recently, the Food and Drug Administration […]
Everyone has heard the phrase “You are what you eat”. The phrase applies not only to internal health but to our appearance as well. Dr. Jennifer Walden, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, recently appeared on an Austin, Texas television show to talk about our food choices and how it affects our looks. Overall, her recommendations are to drink 8 glasses of water a day, eat 2-3 servings of fruit per day, and eat fatty or sugar-filled foods in moderation. To learn more about how to firm up the collagen in your skin, prevent and/or reduce sun damage of the skin, prevent […]
