Liposuction Surgeon Serving Newburgh, Henderson, & Vanderburgh County

Reveal the Shape Beneath.

Did you know that liposuction was the most performed cosmetic surgery in 2024 in the United States? With 349,728 recorded surgeries, it continues to maintain the number one spot in cosmetic procedures, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.1

So, let’s talk about it…

Many individuals from the tri-state area seek out Dr. Conkright for liposuction in a welcoming environment, where comfort and privacy are prioritized throughout the process. Losing weight and shaping your body are not the same thing, and understanding that difference is often the turning point for patients considering liposuction. While weight loss reduces overall body mass, it doesn’t always address how fat is distributed or how certain areas hold onto volume.

At Conkright Aesthetics, liposuction is approached as a contouring procedure rather than a weight-loss solution. By removing targeted fat deposits from specific areas, Dr. Conkright can sculpt the body, enhancing proportions, smoothing transitions, and creating a more defined silhouette. It’s a strategic, highly customized approach that refines your natural shape, not replaces healthy habits.

What is a Liposuction?

The most popular cosmetic surgery procedure in the U.S. today, lipoplasty sculpts the body by removing excess fat from specific areas, such as the abdomen, waist, hips, buttocks, thighs, knees, chin, cheeks, neck, and upper arms, that have not responded to diet and exercise. Lipoplasty, also called liposuction, removes localized collections of fatty tissue to give you a smoother and slimmer body contour.

For the best results, you should be at a relatively normal weight with excess fat localized in specific treatment areas such as the hips, buttocks, and abdomen.

Lipoplasty is neither a substitute for proper diet and exercise nor a method for overall weight loss. It cannot eliminate cellulite or correct loose, hanging skin. In fact, the best results from lipoplasty are achieved when you have healthy, elastic skin with the capacity to shrink evenly after surgery. Liposuction may not address excess skin, and if significant excess skin remains after fat removal, you may need a skin-tightening procedure such as a tummy tuck or arm lift.

6 Steps to Prepare for My Liposuction with Dr. Conkright

Preparing properly for liposuction plays a key role in both your safety and your final results.

  1. Maintain a stable, healthy weight prior to surgery
  2. Adopt healthy lifestyle habits, such as a balanced diet and regular exercise, to optimize your results and recovery
  3. Stop smoking and avoid nicotine products, as they can interfere with healing
  4. Avoid certain medications and supplements, such as blood thinners, as directed by your surgeon
  5. Arrange for transportation and post-procedure support, especially for the first 24–48 hours
  6. Prepare your recovery space at home, including comfortable clothing, compression garments, and essential supplies

What to Expect On the Day of Liposuction Surgery

On the day of your surgical procedure in Evansville, your experience will be carefully managed to ensure safety and comfort. During your consultation, we will discuss the specific treatment areas—such as the abdomen, thighs, flanks, arms, or other regions—to tailor your body contouring plan and achieve your desired results.

Depending on your treatment plan, the liposuction procedure performed may be done under local anesthesia (awake surgery) or general anesthesia. At Conkright Aesthetics, many surgical procedures can be performed in-office under local anesthesia, allowing for a more controlled experience and often a smoother recovery.

The procedure can last anywhere from one to five hours, depending on the amount of fat to be removed and the number of treatment areas. There are several methods surgeons use for liposuction, including tumescent liposuction, the super-wet technique, and ultrasound-assisted liposuction (UAL).

In all types, a tiny incision is made in as inconspicuous a place as possible. A cannula (small tube) is inserted and moved back and forth beneath the skin, breaking up the fat layer and suctioning it out. Tumescent and super-wet liposuction use fluid injection to facilitate fat removal, reduce blood loss, provide anesthesia during and after surgery, and help reduce postoperative bruising. UAL liquefies fat with ultrasonic energy and is highly precise.

Combining My Liposuction with Other Procedures

To get the most out of your liposuction, you can combine it with additional contouring procedures such as breast augmentation, breast reduction, or a breast lift to achieve more comprehensive results.

For those seeking less invasive options, we also offer medspa services, including non-surgical body-contouring treatments such as fat freezing, injectables for neck fat, CoolSculpting, cryolipolysis, and Emsculpt Neo, which can reduce fat and tone muscles without surgery. This depends on your individual goals and anatomy, but we are happy to discuss it with you during your consultation.

Liposuction is often combined with breast augmentation to create more balanced overall body proportions. While breast augmentation restores or enhances upper-body volume, liposuction can refine surrounding areas, such as the waist, flanks, or abdomen, to further enhance body contour and silhouette.

Your Guide to Post-Liposuction Care

Liposuction Recovery

After surgery, patients typically wear a compression garment to help control swelling and support the new body contours. Drainage tubes and antibiotics may also be needed to facilitate healing. Patients are given specific post-operative care instructions, including how to care for the surgical site and which medications to take to aid healing and reduce the risk of infection. Common side effects of liposuction include temporary bruising, swelling, numbness, and soreness.

Most patients experience a short recovery time and are encouraged to walk as soon as they are able. Many can return to normal activities and work within one to two weeks, although strenuous activity should be avoided for about a month.

Results are visible immediately, though improvement may continue as swelling subsides during the first three months. A good surgeon takes great care in making small incisions. If you have a large area or many sites being treated, Dr. Conkright will pay extra attention to keeping the incisions small.

Other irregularities in appearance are possible, such as asymmetric or “baggy” skin, numbness, and pigmentation changes. Final results vary from patient to patient and depend on age, treated areas, the amount of fat removed, and individual healing rates. Some patients see immediate results that improve steadily, while others have weeks of swelling. Both of these outcomes are normal.

7 Tips for Recovery From Liposuction

Proper recovery plays a major role in achieving the best possible results.

  1. Wear your compression garment as directed to reduce swelling and support contouring.
  2. Stay mobile with light walking, which helps improve circulation and reduce the risk of complications.
  3. Stay hydrated and maintain a healthy diet to support healing
  4. Avoid strenuous activity for several weeks, as advised by your surgeon
  5. Follow all post-operative instructions carefully, including medication and wound care guidelines
  6. Be patient with swelling, as final results take time to develop fully
  7. Attend all follow-up appointments, allowing your progress to be monitored

How Much Does Liposuction Cost in Evansville?

The cost of liposuction in Evansville can vary significantly based on factors such as the number of areas treated, the complexity of the procedure, and the overall surgical plan. Because liposuction is a highly customized treatment, no two procedures are exactly the same, and pricing reflects that level of personalization.

In general, patients can expect liposuction to range from approximately $4,000 to $10,000+, depending on the extent of treatment. Smaller, single-area procedures may fall on the lower end of that range, while multi-area contouring or more advanced sculpting plans may require a higher investment. Many plastic surgeons offer financing options and flexible payment plans to help patients manage the costs of liposuction, making treatment more accessible. Be sure to discuss available financing options during your consultation.
