Training
& Experience

His skills and talents, however, go far beyond those of cosmetic surgery. A graduate of Owensboro High School, Dr. Conkright was an Eagle Scout and had the distinction of being on four consecutive Kentucky State Cross Country championship teams. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Kentucky with “high distinction” and his medical degree from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. He then spent a five-year residency specializing in general surgery, trauma, and intensive medicine at the University of South Alabama College of Medicine in Mobile, Alabama. He honed his surgical skills in pediatric, breast, burn, and trauma reconstruction in addition to cosmetic surgery

Getting To Know Dr.Conkright

Dr. Conkright grew up on a farm in rural southern Indiana on the Ohio River across from Kentucky — the son of a working-class family who instilled in him a belief in hard work and earning what you want. He worked his way through his pre-medical education in construction — steel work, pipe fitting, and driving all kinds of trucks for a transportation company — before earning a college scholarship and graduating with a 3.93 grade point average.

As a young man he was a competitive distance runner, contributing to four consecutive Kentucky State Cross Country Championship teams from 1967 through 1970, and setting his high school record in the two-mile as a sophomore. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout with three palms — the maximum achievement within the program.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Conkright holds a private pilot’s license with instrument rating and 1,500 hours of flight time, a second-degree black belt in Chunjido, and is an advanced scuba diver. He has rafted the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon twice and summited Mount Kilimanjaro on September 11, 2011.

He is the proud father of two daughters and a son, and the proud grandfather of three granddaughters.

Dr. Conkright lives and practices today within a few miles of the southern Indiana farm where he was born.
