The short version
You request a consultation. You come to our Evansville office and meet Dr. J. Michael Conkright in person. You complete a health screen. He reviews your history and decides with you whether the program fits. If it does, you leave with a plan. No one is prescribed a medicine without meeting him first.
Every consultation is with Dr. Conkright himself.
Step 1: Request a consultation
Request a consultation online, or call (812) 842-0240. Andi, our virtual receptionist, answers 24/7. She takes your details and passes them to our team, and we reply within one business day to set up your visit.
Step 2: Your in-person visit
Your first visit is at our office, 7201 E Virginia St, Suite D, Evansville, Indiana. We do not start new patients by video or online. Dr. Conkright sees every patient himself, and his staff helps you through the visit.
Please bring:
- A list of every medicine and supplement you take
- Your medical history, including past surgeries
- Any recent lab results, if you have them
- If you already take a weight-loss medicine from somewhere else, the box, pen, vial or label
New patients have a one-time $200 start-up visit. All fees are on our cost page.
Step 3: The health screen
Everyone who joins the program completes the practice's health screen. It asks about your health history, family history, medicines, and weight history. It helps Dr. Conkright spot reasons a medicine may not be right for you, such as conditions listed in the prescribing information.
Passing the screen does not by itself mean you will be prescribed a medicine. It is one part of the decision.
Step 4: What Dr. Conkright reviews
At the visit, Dr. Conkright reviews:
- Your health history and your family history
- The medicines you take now
- Your weight history and what you have tried before
- Your goals, and how a daily pill or a weekly injection fits your life
- Whether you are planning surgery, a pregnancy or anything else that affects the choice
Then he makes a decision based on his medical judgment. If a medicine fits, he tells you which one and why. He also explains the two ways to get it: through our office, or by prescription filled at a pharmacy.
Step 5: What you leave with
If the program fits, you leave with:
- A plan made for you
- Your prescription, or your first medicine from our office, when Dr. Conkright decides it is appropriate
- Instructions for taking your medicine, from the label
- If you use an injection, a hands-on lesson from our staff on the pen
- Your follow-up plan
- How to reach us between visits
Refills and follow-up
Follow-up is planned with you at your first visit, around your schedule and travel. How often you are seen is individual. Dr. Conkright decides any refill or dose change based on how you are doing and what you tell us. Per the prescribing information, doses are adjusted in steps over time, and that is his decision for each patient.
If you are on the office-provided program, your medicine continues through our office. If you fill at a pharmacy, refills go through your prescription. If you are one of the small number of patients Dr. Conkright prescribes a compounded medicine for, it is prepared by a state-licensed pharmacy and shipped overnight to you.
Between visits, call (812) 842-0240 any time. Andi answers 24/7 and makes sure the team gets your message.
If the program is not right for you
Sometimes the answer is no, or not yet. If Dr. Conkright decides a medicine is not right for you, he tells you plainly and why. That is part of what you are paying for: a real physician's judgment, not an automatic prescription.
